This has been an interesting month for everyone with some excellent results for both First and Second Teams.
Looking at the overall picture, it has been proven that we are now able to utilise the whole club squad of players for our league
fixtures when necessary. This shows great strength in depth to the club and is a big compliment to our second team.
We are now moving towards the ‘business’ end of the season. Having played all our first half of season
league games, we are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of our league opposition. More importantly,
we also know where we stand as a playing side. I am absolutely confident in saying that we are growing as a side,
developing as a team and as players. Our style of play is not one dimensional, with a versatile combination of
forward and back play shown by the range of players scoring tries.
We are able to utilise different strengths within the team with players helping out by playing out of position
as and when necessary (Warley was a perfect example of this). This is my philosophy of team spirit, working for each other with a common objective.
This is always a difficult time for rugby clubs, cold wet nights, fixture gaps because of the holiday, drink and
mince pies, lack of training and unavailability. Please help your Captain by informing him of when you can play.
Training and playing will continue as usual during the festive period. We will be playing several
important games over the next four weeks. Let us continue the hard graft and be prepared for a challenging but rewarding New Year.
Best wishes to everyone and a Merry Christmas.

With Paul Doran-Jones, Rory Lawson and also Charlie Sharples - all from Gloucester's 1st team.
All thanks to Simon Fletcher, who won the internal QBE Rugby Pro competition. The judges were impressed by the hard
work shown by Essington coaches and their efforts to introduce more young people to the
