Tour 2006

Sunday

Sunday morning was taken up with cultural pursuits such as visiting Scarborough Castle where Mel collected his second dose of Seagull Sh*t and Nigel rubbed biro all over face just for a laugh:

And Nigel after the 'biro affair'

Scarborough harbour (it's not small....it's FAR AWAY)

..after charming the castle kiosk attendant and blackening his face with biro, Nigel still had time to hand out fixed penalty notices to some church goers on double yellow lines......

Tour match report from Garforth local paper
2/4/06 "Friendly": Garforth 33: Essington Tourists 17

For the first time in their history, Garforth entertained a touring side from the Midlands.

In true touring style, the visitors turned up in "Pink" tour shirts, army bottoms & as mascot that had a scary look of Des "I wear tights" Claxton. A smoke bomb accompanied by a trumpet allowed the visitors to take centre stage, & the match was ready to start.

Upon kick off, the visitors fell to the ground like they had been taken out by a team of Chinese Snipers. With the try line beckoning, for the first time in his life Mat "Bling Bling" Finch didn't know what to do & the referee generously gave a forward pass. The second re-start removed any thoughts that this game would continue to be a friendly, as county pride took over & tackles started to fly. Garforth opened the scoring, with James "Popeye" Tinsdale kicking through and scoring over the whitewash. Essington equalised after a mix up between Skipper Hall & Finch at the back of a Garforth scrum.

The mighty forth re-stored their lead when a flowing back move released full back "Bob Collins". With General Clowse on his left & James "The Tank" Baldwin on his right, Collins had more options than Michael Jackson in a Kindergarten. He opted for Baldwin to take Garforth in a 12-7 lead at half time.

The 2nd half saw a flurry of changes, including the mighty "Bones" Hampshire much to the delight of home supporters. Essington registered first in the 2nd half as their strong pack pushed Garforth over the line to level the scores once again. Their joy was short lived as Alex "Gummy" supported an excellent backs move to take Garforth back into the lead. A moment of inspiration from scrum half Squadron Luke Leader, allowed him to jink through the Essington defence a score a wonderful try & was closely followed by a try from Skipper Hall. Despite Essington scoring again, Garforth took the honours .

Both teams ended up in the Gaping Goose where a few beers, songs and Gimp outfits were donned.

After Match Capers

We were made very welcome in the Gaping Goose, even the GIMP (seen here with Terry)

and the Miss Essington contestants... I think Gerwin won, deservedly in my opinion as he suits clingfilm much better than the other two Tour Virgins - all three seen here singing Wimbawaaaaay for the 157th time:

That just left the journey home for some tired (one bloke is asleep stood up) but happy tourists (still minus the LIZARDS!)
