Essington 2nds v St Leonards 2nds

Things did not look good for Essington from the outset. With 20 regular players unavailable, a squad of 16 was scraped together to take on a St Leonards side that had won the reverse fixture earlier in the season by over 30 points.
However, with the pack getting the upper hand in all areas, good quick posession, coupled with slick handling, enabled Essington to get the ball wide to use their pacey outside backs as much as possible. Two converted tries were scored by half time and it could have been more, such was Essington\'s dominance.
In the second half, St Leonards began to come more into the game and only stout defence managed to keep them from scoring. However, their challenge soon died out when a quick line out from Essington in their own half saw a try eventually scored and converted by man of the match Adam Smith. One more try from Lewis Hylton, his second of the game, saw Essington eventual winners 26 – 0.
A great performance from ALL players, especially Jason Newton and Luke Adams playing in the unaccustomed role of flanker. A fantastic way to finish the first half of the season.
