M Essington 2nds v Trentham 3rds 26.11.11
By
Once again, Essington travelled to an away game short of players, not helped by two getting lost relying on a sat nav!
Trentham kindly lent us two players and the game kicked off with Essington having 14 and Trentham 13!!? This was soon evened up due to an injury.
Essington had a lot of pressure but failed to turn this into points due to a series of wrong options and poor handling, as well as a sterling defensive effort from Trentham. in fact, from one of the few attacks Trentham had, they managed to take the lead. More pressure saw Essington level the score through a Paul Faulkner try, but against the slope and strong wind this was never likely to be enough for the second half. This was quickly proved as Trentham scored two tries to take a 15 - 5 lead. Essington actually played better in the second half but could not turn the pressure into any more points.
Man of the match Rob Matthews for his constant attacking snipes and his heroic defensive work.
