A similar start to last week in that two players didn\'t turn up so it looked like Essington would be starting with 13 players until veteran Jeff Osbourn appeared and at the last minute injured Paddy Gallagher arrived to watch, but gainly volunteered to play, managing until half time when he had to leave the field, leaving Essington to play the second half with 14 men.
A tight first half saw Rugeley 6-0 up at half time, Essington being unable to get any ball due to the lack of refereeing at the rucks.
Essington went to sleep at the kick off of the second half, stopping because they expected the referee to blow his whistle for the four or five players from Rugeley that were well in front of the kicker. He didn\'t, their scrum half collected the ball and ran unopposed to the line.
Finally Essington woke up, started to get some ball, and after a period of pressure, number eight Mark Osborn managed to cross over from a 5m scrum, converted by Jack Lynch.
Despite coming more into the game Essington failed to capitalise and Rugeley managed one more score after a breakaway again by their excellent scrum half.
Man of the match went to Craig Evans, playing scrum half for the first time, closely followed again by young Jack Lynch again.
