C. Essington 2nds v GEC St Leonards 2nds
Despite expecting a bit of rain, Essington warmed up with fantastic lethargy in the sultry conditions. This set the standard for the whole of the first half! Essington seemed unable or unwilling to compete for any ball or make a tackle. They went into half time 26-0 down and a drubbing looked on the cards.
However, changes in the pack and the introduction of about 90 years experience meant that Essington began to improve and keep the opposition down to a couple of scores.
Midway through the second half, the introduction of newcomer \"Samoan Pete\", with his bullocking runs actually taking on the opposition, finally gave Essington the forward momentum they had been craving. Very soon, slick handling in the backs with their first decent bit of good ball, saw Mowgli Hylton touching down for his second try in two weeks, converted by Paul Faulkner.
Further posession gained by some storming runs from the pack, eventually saw prop Kev \" I used to be a winger you know\" Nicklin throw an outrageous dummy and sprint 20 (or was it 120?) metres to score under the posts. The game finished with Paul Faulkner\'s second conversion of the day.
As with last week, an excellent second half (score 14 all !), a pity we have to give the opposition 20 or so points start. Never mind, there is always next week.
